the process

I know the process of planning a wedding and choosing a photographer can be extremely overwhelming so hopefully, the answers to these questions will help you out a bit; while also giving you a sense of what working together will be like.

What style(s) do you specialize in?

I shoot 100% digital and my style is a blend of Documentary and Artistic.

Will our images be edited and color balanced?

Yes, your photos will be edited and color balanced. I edit in both color and black and white, with approximately 80% of your images being in color. If I feel an image looks great in b+w I will also provide you with the same image in color. If you’d like an image in b+w that I have delivered in color you can shoot me an email and I’ll be happy to edit a copy for you in b+w as well. Images will be delivered via a personalized USB drive in high-resolution JPEG format.

How many weddings do you do in a year? Also, what's your favorite part of a wedding day?

I shoot between 20-25 weddings per year. Lately, I’ve been loving the ‘first-looks’! They are the best when couples make it special. The most memorable first-looks for me are when couples choose to be alone and read handwritten letters or vows to one another and/or exchange gifts.

What is included in your packages?

Package contents can be found here.

We have no idea how many hours of coverage we need. Can you help us figure that out?

Absolutely. We can meet for a beer or glass of wine and I’ll be happy to go over my typical wedding day workflow which will make your decision much easier.

What exactly is a “Honeymoon Gallery”?

It is a gallery with between 30-40 images that I send to you within 48 hours of your wedding day. Checkout Kacie and Sam’s below!

How many images can we expect to receive?

I don’t have a set number of images I deliver as I don’t feel it necessary to have to “hit” a certain number of photos and “shoot” only to be shooting. Some weddings have a lot of details while others are simple. Some of my couples have several guests and have very large families and want images of everyone in attendance. Others only want formal images of their immediate family. So it really depends, but generally, I shoot 100-125 images per hour and of those approx. 40-50% are edited and delivered.

Well, that’s cool and all but what about the remaining 50-60% of the photos?

I charge extra for those. Just kidding…usually they are not worthy of editing so either they are duplicates, technically-compositionally off, eyes closed…something along those lines. But don’t worry, I’m not holding any of your photos hostage.

Do we have full rights to our photos?

Yes, you have the rights to make your own prints. And as long as you promise not to add any filters you can share them on your social media platform of choice!

Do you take family formals? I don’t see any on your site.

Yes, I will definitely take your family formals, typically after your ceremony. I figure no one would really enjoy looking at random family formals so I don’t publicly post them. If you would like to see some I’ll be happy to send some your way.

We were way off on our timeline and need you to stay an extra hour! Can you do that?

Sure, my overtime rate is $495/hr…(so dial in that timeline!) Of course, if there is a medical emergency that delays your wedding or something happens out of your control I would adjust accordingly to the revised timeline.

How long after the wedding do we get to see the photos?

6-8 weeks

Is a second photographer necessary?

Second photographers can cover more ground and can give you two perspectives on major moments (for example, I would cover the shot of your fiancés reaction as he sees you for the first time as you walk down the isle and my second photographer would cover your partners reaction. A second photographer also ensures no moments are missed during the ‘getting-ready’ portion of the day due to me running back and forth between getting ready locations.

My package doesn’t include a second photographer. How much is it to add one?

$495

Will you be my actual photographer or will it be one of your associates?

It will always be me.

You have some fancy live music photos. Do you still do concert photography?

I do not. Weddings offer me much more artistic creativity and take up the majority of my time but I leave them on my site because I think they’re fancy too.

I need to book you for my wedding, so what’s next?!

I will send you an online proposal with your package details along with a wedding agreement that we both digitally sign. Once that is complete I will send you a PayPal invoice so you can make your retainer payment. I require a non-refundable 50% retainer of your total package price at the time of booking to hold your date with the remaining balance due 21 days before your wedding day. Once your retainer has been paid your wedding date will no longer be available for booking and I’ll be all yours!
